Famularo and Goldberg of Meridian complete 20,000 s/f lease to Fushimi Group in Times Square

New York, NY Fushimi Group, one of New York’s most well-known sushi restaurant chains known for its fine Japanese cuisine, is slated to opens its doors in Times Square early this summer. The 20,000 s/f space was recently leased by Meridian Retail Leasing team president, James Famularo, and director, Greg Goldberg, who are both based out of the company’s midtown New York City office. The asking rent for the space was asking $1.2 million annually. Fushimi currently has several locations in Brooklyn and Staten Island.

Located at 311 West 43rd St. and situated steps from Times Square, the two-story space was previously tenanted by world-famous, Michelin-starred Chinese cuisine restaurant, Hakkasan. After a $20 million buildout, the space is now adorned with fine marble and wood throughout the establishment. Fushimi is not only known for its cuisine, but also for its transformative atmosphere featuring colorful neon lights, eclectic furniture, and a fully-stocked bar. This upscale restaurant seats 650 people, including its spacious outdoor area that Fushimi plans to activate.

“We are currently seeing a trend of high-end restaurateurs looking to get into the market with second-generation restaurant spaces,” said Famularo.

In May 2021, at the height of the global pandemic, Famularo similarly leased a 25,000 s/f space at 253 West 47th St. to the prominent restaurant Brooklyn Chop House. Famularo’s track-record of bringing well-known restaurant names to Times Square benefits the city as it fights to bounce back from COVID shutdowns.
