After years of coffee, chocolate, focaccia and pizza, a new kind of creative energy is about to take over the modern glass-and-steel building at 824 10th Avenue.
Paint ’N Pour — a social art experience that pairs guided painting with drinks and music — has signed a lease to open its third New York City location in the high-ceilinged space between W54th and W55th Street in Hell’s Kitchen, in a deal first reported by Traded.
But don’t grab your brush just yet — before Paint ’N Pour can bring its colorful brand of fun to the West Side, it will need to appear before the local community board to secure a liquor license, an essential element of its sip-and-paint concept.
The space — a striking 5,300 square feet spread across three levels — is a standout in the neighborhood. Built just over a decade ago as the flagship for Swedish coffee chain FIKA, the building quickly became known for its dramatic double-height ceilings, expansive windows and an outdoor patio.
Paint ’N Pour has signed a 10-year lease for the property, which had been on the market for $30,000 per month — however, the financial terms of the final deal were not disclosed. After FIKA filed for bankruptcy and departed, the location was transformed into the Hell’s Kitchen home of Vesuvio Bakery, which operated a café and pizzeria there from 2022 until its closure late last year.
Now, the lights are set to come back on. “Take your average Paint ’N Sip class and give it a serious upgrade with food, fun and an all-you-can-drink open bar,” says Paint ’N Pour on Instagram.
“This isn’t just a lease. It’s a perfect match between an energetic, fresh concept and a space designed for exactly this type of activation,” said James Famularo of Meridian Capital Group, who brokered the deal on behalf of the landlord, Kate Eustace. “Paint ’N Pour is going to bring an entirely new vibe to 10th Avenue, and we’re thrilled to be part of it.”
Paint ’N Pour already operates two popular locations — in Harlem and on the Lower East Side — and also offers mobile events under the name 2GOGH. The 10th Avenue location will be their largest footprint yet.
We reached out for comment from Paint ’N Pour, but did not receive a response at the time of publication. We will update with a Newcomers story when they officially arrive in the neighborhood.
