Zev Karpel
Executive Vice President, Head of Agency & Proprietary Lending
Mr. Karpel serves as Executive Vice President, Head of Agency & Proprietary Lending at Meridian, based in the firm’s New York City headquarters. In this role, he oversees the firm’s agency lending platform, leading all aspects of agency loan originations and maintaining senior relationships with agency capital providers. He works closely with Meridian’s origination teams to drive execution, ensure consistent credit quality, and support the successful structuring and placement of agency-financed transactions nationwide.
In addition, Mr. Karpel oversees originations for NewBridge Capital, a proprietary lending platform, which provides bridge financing for multifamily properties. He oversees origination strategy, transaction structuring, and execution for NewBridge, playing a central role in expanding Meridian’s ability to deliver flexible capital solutions across the multifamily investment lifecycle.
Prior to assuming his current role, Mr. Karpel served as Chief Underwriting Officer, where he led the development and implementation of enterprise-wide underwriting standards across all product lines and oversaw the review and approval of all loans originated by the firm. Earlier in his career, he was a Managing Director focused on multifamily and agency lending, where he played an instrumental role in executing transactions for many of Meridian’s largest and most valued clients.
Mr. Karpel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Yeshiva University and is an active member of the Mortgage Bankers Association and the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC).
